runterra Malibu 8K and 1K fun run will be held on Sunday, May 31, 2009 in conjunction with the BuFest Concert and Expo.

runterra participants receive tons of fantastic green perks, information, and entry into "Vendor Village" at BuFest both Saturday, May 30 and Sunday, May 31st.  runterra and BuFest are held at the Paramount Movie Ranch is a National Park located in the heart of the Santa Monica mountain range.

**A portion of race proceeds from runterra Malibu goes to the Cancer Hope Foundation. The mission of Cancer Hope Foundation is to enhance the lives of people affected by cancer. Their energies are currently concentrated on Camp Keepsake, a program which offers a cost-free camp retreat for adult cancer patients/survivors, their children and friends. Camp Keepsake provides support in an energetic and fun atmosphere.

Race Location: runterra expo and race are located at the Paramount Movie Ranch, 23852 Pacific Coast Highway #384, Malibu, CA 90265.

Race Fees:  Early registration for the 8K is $26 (through Feb 14th), $28 prior to race day, and $30 on race day.  You can receive a $2 discount for opting to take alternative transportation (this option is listed in the online registration form).

Early registration for the 1K is $10 (through Feb 14th), $12 prior to race day, and $15 on race day.

Race Day Schedule:
Bib and Packet pick-up 7:30am to 9:15am
1K fun run starts at 9:00am
8K Starts 9:30am
Awards and Post-Race Party immediately following race
Course closes at 11:30am

Packet Pick-Up: Packet Pick-Up takes inside BuFest's  "Vendor Village" expo at the runterra cabana. Packet Pick-Up is available inside the expo on Saturday, May 30th from 9 AM to 6 PM . Runners may also pick-up your packet Sunday, March 29th from 7:30 AM to 9:15 AM.  Participants are permitted to pick up packets for themselves and other runners. *We highly recommend picking up your packet on Saturday if at all possible to avoid race day lines.

You can choose the option of having your BIB mailed to you for $3 during Online Registration.  In this case, your bib is mailed, but your race bag is available for pick-up after the race at our runterra booth inside the expo.

BuFest Vendor Village & Concert Hours:  Will be posted soon.

Expo & Race Day Parking: Parking for packet pick-up and the race are free at the BuFest concert location during BuFest.  Simply show your online registration confirmation or bib for free parking.

 

Alternative Transportation:  This can mean something as simple as carpooling with friends, biking to the race, walking/running if you live close by, or:

  • Use pickuppal.com to find/plan carpools

  • Use public transportation - options will be posted soon 

Amenities:  All participants receive FREE entry into Vendor Village, as well as a reusable, cloth grocery bag filled with sponsor goodies.  Plus, a tree is planted for every runner to help off-set your carbon footprint.  Stick around for food, entertainment and shopping at the Post-Race Expo in Vendor Village. The BuFest concert is not free for race participants.  Tickets can be purchased for the concert here.

 

Course Map: The 8K is 4.97 miles.  Race details will be posted soon.

 

The 1K fun run (.62 miles).  All 1K participants receive a special prize for participating.

 

Prizes: First place overall male, first place overall female, first place overall masters female and male will all win $100 cash/gift cards.  Overall 2nd and 3rd place finishers receive prizes.  First place finishers in each 10-year age category receive medals (overall winners are not eligible to place in age categories).

 

Elite Runners:  Elite runners will be placed at the front of the race starting line.  Please contact us to give us your name or to ask any questions.  Info@runterra.com.

 

Welcome Walkers:  We welcome walkers to the race.  We do, however, ask that you start at the back of the pack to alleviate any bottle necks.  The race course will be closed at 10:30, 2 hours after the start.

General Information: In addition to picking up your bib, timing chip and race bag, we encourage participants to enjoy free entry to BuFest's Vendor Village.  You will find exciting products to lessen your carbon footprint, as well as tips for healthy lifestyle changes. For convenience and accuracy, this is a chip timed event.
